That is why today we are going to show you how you can put together a killer home football tailgate party with the help from Jo-Ann Fabrics & Craft Stores!
With some paint, fabric, mason jars, a Cricut and some craftiness, you can put together a tailgate party like this one in no time! There are tons of DIYs for this football tailgate party and we are going to take you through each one!
DIY Football Tailgate Party
We love these huge 1 Gal Mason Jars, they are perfect for decorating.
To make them into these awesome tailgate jars you just need a few things:
• Black Acrylic Paint
• White Acrylic Paint
• Paint Brush Set
• Cricut Design Space
• Cricut Explore Air
• Cricut Explore Standard or Heavy Mat (12×12)
• Cricut Weeding Tool
• Cricut White Vinyl (available in-stores)
• Cricut Transfer Tape
Let’s Get Crafting!
– First, paint the jars black and let dry. 2 coats really had the best coverage for me.
– Then, upload this Game Time photo & The X’s & O’s photo to the Cricut Design Space.
You want to make sure with the X’s & O’s photo you remove the black part and only have the white chalk pattern left to cut.
– Cut the images on Cricut White Vinyl and then weed out the vinyl, leaving only the letters and the X’s and O’s.
– Use Cricut Transfer Tape to transfer the letters and X’s & O’s to the black jars.
They are such a statement décor piece and pretty easy to make too!
These are some really cute football mason jars that you can make too for your tailgate party.
Here is what you will need to make these:
• Light Green Acrylic Paint
• Dark Green Acrylic Paint
• Light Brown Acrylic Paint
• Paint Brush Set
• Cricut Design Space
• Cricut Explore Air
• Cricut Explore Standard or Heavy Mat (12×12)
• Cricut Weeding Tool
• Cricut White Vinyl (available in-stores)
• Cricut Transfer Tape
• Hot Glue Gun
• Glue Sticks
Let’s Get Painting & Designing!
– For the 1st mason jar, with your small paint brush paint dots of white, green and brown paint. The more random the better! Polka dots would be a cute look too!
-For the 2nd mason jar, with your small paint green, light green and white stripes around it. Washi tape or painters tape can help keep your lines straight when you are doing this.
-For the 3rd mason jar, with your large paint brush, paint the whole jar brown. This may take 2 coats.
-Once dry, upload this helmet design to the Cricut Design Space.
– Cut the images on Cricut White Vinyl and then weed out the vinyl, leaving only the helmet.
– Use Cricut Transfer Tape to transfer the helmet to the brown jar.
Then glue small foam finger to the top of each of the jars for a fun fan look! Display them in this lovely black and white striped tray (available in-stores) to complete the look for your tailgate home party.
We also made this really cute referee banner for the party too. This one is super easy to make and looks pretty stickin’ adorable on your table! You can also hang it up on your wall for a great look too.
Here is what you will need to make the banner:
• Yellow Fabric
• Black Yarn
• Hot Glue Gun
• Glue Sticks
• Rubber Bands
• Scissors
• Newspaper
• Black and White Striped Favor Bags (available in-stores)
Let’s Get To Cutting & Gluing!
-First, cut the fabric into 5” X 5” squares.
-Then place a small ball of crumpled newspaper in the middle of the square and wrap fabric around it, securing it with a rubber band.
-Take your favor bags and cut them into triangles
-Measure out about 4-5’ of yarn and place the bags and referee flags along them.
-Secure the striped triangles & the yellow flags to the yarn with hot glue.
Then just secure it with tape to the front you’re your tailgate party table. It’s so cute!
Of course, your drinks have to be festive at your tailgate home party too. There are some really easy DIYs you can do to make sure your drinks are ready for the big game!
Grab one of these mason jar drinking mugs and paint it with chestnut brown paint. Then add “laces” to the front of the jar with Mounting Foam Tape. Easy! Add a black striped straw and maybe even a straw flag for flair and you are ready for the game!
These referee cups are the perfect DIY if you are short on time. Just take some black and white stripped socks and cut just the tops off. Slice the sock over your cup and bam! Decorated cup in seconds.
Of course, don’t forget the football snacks either!
Pop in your mouth snacks is always a great win at tailgate parties. Popcorn, mixed nuts, and pub mix are always my go to favorites.
Sandwiches are always a fan favorite for football games too and they are easy to put together right before guests come over. Add in fun DIY football picks for a lovely look too!
