Lovelies, if you have been following us for awhile, you know that we love puppy parties. We threw a red and purple whimsical doggie party for our Boston Terrier Keely and a pupstachio party for our other Boston Kooper. While those dog parties were fun, puppy parties just got a whole lot more fun and fabulous with these colorful treat topped dog donuts! These dog donuts are so easy to make. too. They only take a few ingredients and only take 35 minutes to make.
Colorful Peanut Butter Dog Donuts Perfect for a Pawty!
These are fun little peanut butter dog treats baked into the shape of a donut and topped with greek yogurt for the icing. Yes, even humans could eat these because of the natural ingredients in them but we wouldn’t recommend it. For a double yum for the pups, the donuts are topped with treats like beggin’ strips and chicken strips to look like sprinkles or chopped nuts. We really love the mini angus steak and bacon treat toppers for the donuts though, so cute!
The key to these donuts looking so life like is the fun pink and blue icing! All awesome donuts have pink and blue icing! What is great about this doggie friendly icing is it is actually greek yogurt and honey.
Just use pink and blue food die to get the perfect look for the icing for your donuts.
- For the donuts
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup smooth peanut butter (unsalted)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 donut baking pan
- For The Icing
- 1 Pint Plain Greek yogurt
- Honey
- Preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C.
- To make the donuts
- Beat the egg with an electric mixer. Add in the milk and peanut butter and beat until smooth. Slowly mix in the flour and baking powder as little at a time until the whole cup is used.
- Grab about a small roll of the dough and form it in the donut pan. You can choose how thick you want your donuts by how much you fill each donut template. If you fill it all the way to the brim, you get more fluffy donuts compared to if you fill it halfway, you get more crispy edged donuts.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until the donuts are dried and hard. Allow the donuts to cool.
- For The Icing
- Mix 3 different round bowls of yogurt and a touch of honey together. In 1 bowl add pink and yellow to get a vibrant pink color. In another add a few drops of blue to get the light blue color and the 3rd leave as is. Dip your cooled donuts in the icing to where the top part is covered. Then pull up to get a clean lined icing effect.
- Cut up your dogs favorite treats and top donuts like sprinkles.
- These are big so feeding half a donut at a time to your dog or less is probably best. Unless it's their birthday and they can go for the whole thing!
